We’re thrilled to announce our investment in Aomni, a groundbreaking AI platform that’s redefining how sales and revenue teams conduct research, engage prospects, and close deals. David’s journey—from growing up in a small village in central China to launching satellites in space—perfectly illustrates the combination of curiosity, grit, and ambition that fuels this company’s vision.
Aomni stands out for its ability to deliver deep, real-time insights that turn ordinary sales interactions into extraordinary ones. Below, we chat with David to explore the backstory, the “aha” moments that led to Aomni’s inception, and the remarkable ways this platform empowers professionals to be more strategic, efficient, and human in their day-to-day work.
David: I spent my early years in a tiny village in central China, a place where modern conveniences were almost unknown. When the coastal cities modernized in the 1990s, my hometown was among the last to see those changes. Even spotting a car was a big event—everyone ran outside to glimpse what felt like alien technology.
Then, when I was ten, my mother moved us to the United States. Everything changed the moment I encountered a Windows XP computer. It was as if I’d entered a whole new world—I remember something as trivial as playing Solitaire and physically dragging cards around the screen feeling completely magical. It awakened a fascination with technology that’s stayed with me ever since.
David: My introduction to coding happened in a roundabout way: I began by creating custom maps and scripts for StarCraft. That taught me how to make a computer do something I envisioned—an incredibly empowering feeling. Once I got to university, I took on more serious programming challenges, joining a student space research lab to work on a CubeSat project. I dove into low-level C, embedded systems, and even designed a circuit board for the main flight computer.
We eventually launched that satellite into orbit, which was surreal. More than anything, it proved that if you stay curious and keep learning, you can build the things you once only imagined. That same mindset guided me when I later stumbled onto AI agents and realized the transformative potential they hold.
David: I had another “lightning-bolt moment” in 2022 when I began experimenting with AI agents that could browse the web, interpret code, and synthesize data. It felt as revolutionary as the day I first laid eyes on a computer at age ten. Suddenly, the tech was mature enough to solve massive, real-world problems in a way that was never possible before.
When I tested early prototypes in public, I was blown away by how many sales and research professionals said, “Yes, we need this. Today.” The manual process of gathering information, qualifying leads, and creating actionable reports was slow and often painful. Aomni solves that by automating deep research and context-building so sales teams can focus on meaningful conversations with prospects.
David: One of our early adopters put it best:
Aomni makes sure that every interaction with my customer is the best sales conversation they’ve ever had.
That’s our mission. Top-performing sales reps have always done deep research—scouring websites, reading industry news, and formulating tailored pitches. But replicating that level of rigor at scale is extremely difficult, especially for larger teams. That’s where AI becomes indispensable.
Our AI agents scour the web in real time, reading everything from public filings to social media chatter, and then integrate that data with a team’s internal knowledge base. Instead of walking into a call cold, reps show up ready to deliver actual solutions. It transforms the sales interaction from a scattershot approach into a laser-focused conversation that truly addresses customer pain points.
Too many AI companies are trying to replace sales reps—we believe that’s short-sighted, and our mission is the very opposite: to empower every sales reps to be top performing and generate more revenue, faster.
David: We see teams using Aomni in three main steps:
Even as AI handles the heavy lifting, the human remains in control—reviewing and refining every detail. This balance of automation and human oversight has led to a significant boost in engagement and efficiency for our early adopters.
David: I want humans to do what they’re best at—building relationships, forging trust, and closing deals—while letting AI handle all the tedious busywork. We’re focusing on sales and revenue operations right now, but the potential is enormous. We see ourselves becoming the intelligence layer for entire revenue teams, automating research, surfacing real-time updates, and even feeding data back into CRMs or building our own system of record.
Ultimately, our goal is that Aomni becomes the go-to autonomous agent platform for revenue organizations. Our roadmap looks beyond just basic research. We aim to automate countless other workflows, from prospect engagement to territory planning, all underpinned by a knowledge graph that captures the team’s collective wisdom.
In a future where every manual process is optimized or replaced by AI, we want to be right at the center—helping companies stay human where it counts and stay automated where it doesn’t.
